Dearly beloved in Christ Jesus,
The mystery of Christ’s passion, death and resurrection lies at the very heart of
Christian faith and the liturgical life of the church. As we approach Holy Week, we
are invited to enter into these sacred mysteries with prayerful and meditative
hearts, preparing ourselves to fully participate in the liturgical services that
commemorate Christ’s ultimate sacrifice and triumph. Henri Nouwen, a Christian
thinker, offers a profound reflection on this experience, reminding us that Holy
Week calls us to accompany Christ in his final days, walking with him in faith as
he carries the cross, and embracing our own sufferings with trusting silence. It is
an invitation to examine our own hearts and recognize the powers of darkness
that binds us. At the same time, we are also called to confront the darkness in our
society – the systems of violence, destruction and evil that victimises the
vulnerable. Cross shows us a way forward for it dispels the power of darkness
with the radiant light of the One who willingly gave his life for the redemption of
the world. The solemn journey of the cross, however, does not end in darkness
and despair; rather, it culminates in the joy of Easter, which proclaims the ultimate
victory of light over darkness, good over evil. The resurrection of Christ is a
powerful declaration that suffering, evil and death do not have the final word, but
rather, that love, grace, and new life prevail.
Towards the end of this month, as a parish, we are bidding farewell to Santhosh
Thomas Achen, Teena Kochamma, Shreya and Sandra. We give thanks to God
for their faithful ministry among us for the past three years. As they move on to
take up pastoral responsibilities at Olavakkode Christ MTC and Mundoor
Jerusalem MTC in Palakkad, Kerala, as assigned by the church, we pray that
God may continue to use them effectively for the extension of his kingdom. May
their life, ministry and witness be a blessing to many. On a personal note, I thank
Achen for the love, support and fellowship we have shared as a family in our
ministry. We are also looking forward to welcome John Wilson achen and family
into our parish. We pray that they may be empowered by God’s grace to faithfully
carry out the divine ministry to which they have been called.
May the presence of the crucified and risen Christ, be our guide and strength
throughout our life journey.
Prayerful Regards
Joseph John achen.
